(Also read: Dreams unlimited: Painter’s daughter is Fatehabad SP) The ugly confrontation took place during a meeting of the District Grievances and Public Relations Committee, where the minister questioned Superintendent of Police Sangeeta Kalia regarding a complaint on the unauthorised sale of liquor in villages. Deputy Commissioner N.K. Solanki was also present in the meeting. Vij had reportedly asked the SP what the police was doing regarding multiple sale points of liquor opened in villages. The officer explained the responsibilities of the police in this regard and mentioned that 2,500 cases had been registered in connection with the Excise Act in the past 10 months, which was a record. The minister was, however, not satisfied with the answer. As the exchange continued, the minister became agitated and asked the SP to "get out" of the meeting. She, however, refused to leave as she felt she was not in the wrong, and objected to the minister's manner. The officer’s response angered Vij, and he immediately left the meeting. All BJP workers and committee members present in the meeting also followed the minister out. The Deputy Commissioner, however, continued with the meeting. Speaking to The Tribune later, Vij said he would bring the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister and the state DGP. He added he would not attend meetings in the future if the officer was present.
